Alzheimer's Disease/Brain Health - Diabetes - Low Testosterone - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Some of you may have heard about this strange substance called Shilajit but I'm guessing probably not. Basically it is the latest supplement that is gaining popularity around the world. But it's nothing new in fact it's been a part of Ayurvedic medicine for about 3000 years! Ayurvedic medicine is built on the concept that by keeping equilibrium in the body’s three “doshas,” one can live a long and healthy life without relying on prescription medications. And that sounds pretty good to me. According to healthline.com "It’s an effective and safe supplement that can have a positive effect on your overall health and well-being." Another tick of approval so lets delve deeper into this.......
Ok so why should you take a look at this black substance?
I was sceptical at first as there seems to be so many superfoods, supplements, diets etc that we should try and implement or use for our overall health or even to help with something more major. And this has become increasingly evident in social media over the past couple of years. I saw this trend starting about 10 years ago when I was home with a new born and wanted to find better alternatives for myself and my child. So you have to forgive my scepticism when my partner told me about this Shilajit stuff exploding all over TikTok - just another fad or so I thought.
Nope according to some very reputable sources I am actually now convinced that this may be the exact 'medicine' that many of us need. Who doesn't want more strength, stamina and energy! I sure as hell know I would love more energy. Suffering from adrenal fatigue takes it's toll on your energy levels and lately it has been really wearing me down. Shilajit has been found to boost your body’s mitochondrial function and may help improve energy levels. Which sufferers of chronic fatigue syndrome will be happy to hear as it is associated with mitochondrial dysfunction.
Dr. Axe who I turn to for easy to read info on all things natural health tells us - One reason shilajit is such an effective medicinal herb is due to its high fulvic acid content. Fulvic acid has many proven benefits, from improving gut health to keeping skin healthy. This ancient herb contains a huge percentage of fulvic acid and is one of the most common supplements used to increase your intake of this potent acid.
And taken from the information on the brand of Shilijat we stock instore - Shilajit is a rejuvenating Ayurvedic tonic sourced from rocks high in the Himalayas, sometimes referred to as "The Destroyer of Weakness". As well as a complete array of 80 trace minerals, it contains Fulvic & Humic Acid, which may enhance other nutrients' synergistic effect. Believed to be a true source of primal nutrition, strength and stamina, this powerful mineral powder is believed to rejuvenate the body.
All this sounds pretty good but now lets see the list of ailments, in no particular order, that may benefit from daily usage.

We would all have at least one of these issues or know someone that does, I'm willing to give this a go and will be looking deeper into it for my mother to use for her Alzheimer's. I am going to use it in the powdered form and add it to my morning smoothies so I can't taste it because it tastes bloody awful. I have read that resin is the way to go as it's more pure however the product I have found is just as good as the resin and is 100% pure plus as a powder it is so much easier to use.
Research taken from Dr. Axe on it's side effects must be taken into account - Reports on the various “warnings” involving shilajit are inconsistent. However, it’s important to recognize a few possible issues regarding this substance. First of all, the two well-known possible drawbacks include the presence of heavy metals and the ability of large doses to adversely affect blood pressure. If you’re at risk for heavy metal exposure or abnormally low blood pressure, you should be cautious when taking it. And research from healthline.com - Don’t take shilajit if you have sickle cell anemia, hemochromatosis (too much iron in your blood), or thalassemia. It’s possible to be allergic to this supplement. Stop taking shilajit if you develop a rash, increased heart rate, or dizziness.
So wish me luck on my new journey with Shilajit and hopefully I'll be able to answer the initial question Shilajit or Just Shit in a few weeks!!!! If you want to join me and try this miracle powder for yourself pop instore to have a chat or grab a jar.
