Blue Aragonite is a beautiful variety of Aragonite, a calcium carbonate mineral with the chemical formula CaCO₃. It is recognised for its soft sky-blue, turquoise and blue-green colouring and can form in fibrous, columnar, radiating and botryoidal formations.
 
Its beautiful blue colouring is generally associated with trace amounts of copper within the mineral. Blue Aragonite is considerably less common than the cream, brown and honey-coloured varieties of Aragonite, making good-quality specimens particularly sought after. Notable material has been found in locations including China, Pakistan and Morocco.
 
With a hardness of around 3.5–4 on the Mohs scale, Blue Aragonite is relatively soft and should be handled carefully to protect its natural surfaces and formations.
 
Energetically, Blue Aragonite is traditionally associated with emotional healing, balance, strength and compassionate communication.
