Gold Sheen Obsidian is a striking variety of Black Obsidian — a natural volcanic glass formed when silica-rich lava cools so rapidly that crystals cannot develop. Its golden sheen is created by tiny gas bubbles and mineral inclusions, including iron, becoming trapped within the molten lava as it cools.
 
When polished, these inclusions reflect light to create a luminous, chatoyant glow across the surface. With a hardness of approximately 5–5.5 on the Mohs scale, it carries both visual depth and a strong, grounding presence.
 
Primary sources include Mexico and the United States, with smaller deposits occurring wherever Obsidian is naturally formed.
