Kunzite is a tender yet powerful stone of emotional healing, known for its soft pink to lilac glow and its ability to gently open the Heart Chakra. It belongs to the spodumene family and forms deep within lithium-rich granitic pegmatites, where mineral-dense fluids cool slowly over time. In these late stages of crystallisation, elongated prismatic crystals grow — often to remarkable sizes — carrying within them the quiet strength of the Earth’s deep processes. Its delicate colouring comes from trace amounts of manganese, giving Kunzite its signature blush tones that seem to glow from within.
Found primarily in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Madagascar, Brazil and the United States, Kunzite often develops alongside quartz, albite, lepidolite, tourmaline, beryl and muscovite. Geologically prized for its clarity, size and pleochroism (its colour shifts when viewed from different angles), Kunzite is also known for its perfect cleavage, making it a stone that requires gentle handling — a physical reflection of its emotionally sensitive nature.
