Lepidolite is a lithium-bearing mica mineral formed during the final stages of granite pegmatite crystallisation, when mineral-rich fluids cool slowly in deep pockets within the Earth. Its delicate sheets of lilac, pink and violet grow in layered, plate-like structures that shimmer softly in the light.
 
Its name comes from the Greek lepidos, meaning “scale,” reflecting its fine, glittering texture.
Found in Brazil, Madagascar, the United States, Russia and Zimbabwe, Lepidolite commonly occurs alongside quartz, feldspar and tourmaline. Its natural lithium content is one of its defining geological features and contributes to its well-known association with calming and emotional steadiness.
