Picture Jasper is a variety of Jasper that crystallises in mass formation, known for its scenic colour patterns that resemble natural landscapes and abstract artwork. Swirls of deep brown, ochre and charcoal drift across sandy beige and cream tones, creating miniature desert scenes and earthy “pictures” within each stone. Larger polished pieces often reveal especially vivid detail, making every piece completely unique. With a Mohs hardness of around 6.5–7, Picture Jasper is durable and well suited to everyday handling. Abundant deposits are found in India and Australia, with additional sources in Brazil, Uruguay, Venezuela, Egypt and the United States.
