Rose Quartz is a beautiful pink variety of Quartz composed of silicon dioxide (SiOâ‚‚), recognised for its soft blush, rose and deeper pink colouring. It commonly forms as massive material rather than distinct individual crystals, with its translucent to milky appearance giving it the gentle glow for which it is so well known.
Its pink colouring is linked to microscopic mineral inclusions and trace elements within the Quartz. With a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, Rose Quartz is relatively durable and is commonly polished into palm stones, spheres, towers, carvings and jewellery while also occurring as beautiful natural specimens.
Significant deposits are found in Brazil, Madagascar, South Africa, India and several other locations around the world. Madagascar is particularly known for producing beautifully coloured and sometimes exceptionally translucent Rose Quartz.
