Albite is a sodium-rich feldspar mineral belonging to the plagioclase feldspar group, with the chemical formula NaAlSi₃O₈. It crystallises within the triclinic crystal system and commonly forms in igneous and metamorphic rocks, particularly granites, pegmatites and alpine vein deposits.
 
Typically appearing white, cream, grey or softly translucent, Albite may display a pearly or vitreous lustre across its crystal surfaces. It often forms in tabular or bladed crystal structures and is frequently found associated with quartz, mica and other feldspar minerals in complex mineral formations.
 
With a hardness of 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale, Albite is relatively durable and valued in mineral collections, carvings and metaphysical work. Notable deposits occur in Brazil, Pakistan, Madagascar, Norway and the United States.
